Our Inspiration
Finding a market that can support coffee production over the long term is about more than finding customers. It starts with the coffee itself being truly good. Khun Wicha saw coffee as an agricultural crop that would grow in popularity in the future, so he began exploring roasting methods that would bring out the best flavor. This became a personal passion, and he devoted his time to finding the best ways to roast coffee. Back then, coffee roasting profiles like those used today didn’t exist. It was about going back to the basics: watching the heat and the beans, and adjusting the roasting method to suit each harvest, because no two harvests were the same. This led to Arabigo’s signature roast, producing fragrant beans with a smooth, deep flavor, the authentic taste of Chiang Mai coffee, born from Khun Wicha’s love of coffee beans.
The Story of Arabigo: from mountain farms to a coffee partner for over 200 businesses
Over 30 years ago, northern Thailand was undergoing a major transition. The Royal Project was encouraging farmers to stop growing opium and switch to crops such as coffee and tea. Khun Wicha Ratchatachaiudom, founder of Arabigo, saw an opportunity to help farmers build better lives. At the same time, royal initiatives were moving in the same direction, inspiring him to turn the idea into action. At the time, no one even knew who would buy the crops or where they could be sold. The only thing driving the effort was the hope of helping farmers build a more secure livelihood. When the coffee beans they grew proved to be high quality, Khun Wicha began looking for a market and realized that hotels with international guests were the ones seeking quality coffee. That’s where his coffee journey began. Today, Arabigo is a coffee producer that meets quality standards, supplying businesses throughout Thailand, including hotels, restaurants, and many others.
The beginnings of Arabigo: from Doi Khun Tha to Coffee Solution Provider

Arabigo began with a desire to support farmers on Doi Khun Tha in Chiang Mai Province. We first invited local farmers to try growing Thai Arabica coffee, and discovered that the mountain’s soil and climate were especially well suited to it, producing a smooth, distinctive flavor unlike anywhere else. 2.
